Meet the Some Context Publication Team: Nicole Leopardo
We’ve noticed some new faces around here, and we want to take a moment to introduce our team. Thank you for all the support—we truly appreciate it!
We’re kicking off our Meet the Team series with our founder and Editor-in-Chief Nicole Leopardo (she/her.) Stay tuned to learn more about the small team shaping Some Context Publication in the coming weeks!
What is your Role at Some Context Publication?
I founded the Some Context umbrella in 2019 after realizing that one of the biggest challenges we face is a lack of context on key issues —a gap that makes it harder for people to think critically. My goal is to bridge that gap by providing the perspective needed to engage with the world more thoughtfully.
How are you right now?
I am angry about the political reality in the U.S. and the fact that our democracy is being torn apart by authoritarian Nazis. Currently inspired by Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi who threw his shoes at President George W. Bush in a news conference to show his anger and frustration at the corruption that followed the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. I feel like it’s time to riot.
What is your favorite quote?
I have a lot but at the moment it’s this one from Kendrick’s tv off:
“Got a big mouth but he lack big ideas. Send him to the moon that’s just how I feel.”
What was the first concert or performance you ever attended?
My first concert was The Cure’s Wild Mood Swings Tour in Ohio in 1996. I was six years old. I remember hanging out in the stands with two young, pierced-up punks dressed in black while my parents went to grab a beer. It was a formative experience - The Cure is one of my top bands.
